The Reversible Skim Point is a genuine OEM wear part for the skim coulter (or disc coulter) on Lemken reversible plows. It is the hardened, sharpened tip that attaches to the leading edge of the skim coulter disc. Its key design feature is that it is reversible (double-sided), allowing it to be flipped to present a fresh, sharp cutting edge when one side is worn.

Function and Role
This component is critical for ensuring a clean cut and efficient operation of the reversible plow in both directions. Its primary functions are:

Initial Sod and Residue Cutting: As the plow moves, the skim point is the first component to slice through the soil. It cleanly severs the turf, weeds, and crop residue (straw, etc.) along the intended furrow wall. This prevents the material from being dragged and results in a neat furrow.

Defining the Furrow Wall: By making a precise vertical cut, it defines the edge of the furrow that the following plow body will lift and turn. This is essential for achieving complete soil inversion and a well-finished plowed field.

Extended Service Life and Cost-Effectiveness: The reversible design doubles the part’s operational lifespan. Once the leading edge on one side becomes dull from abrasion, the point can be unbolted, flipped over, and reinstalled to use a brand-new cutting edge, reducing downtime and replacement part costs.
